Westboro Baptist ChurchThe Westboro Baptist Church is a Baptist Church known for its hate speeches against politicians, homosexuals and Muslims. The first service was held on November 27 1955 and all the members of the church live together in a compound. The church was made up of Pastor Fred Waldron Phelps, nine of his children and their families and a small number of other families and individuals. They hold the belief that God has chosen some to be saved, but many people are not saved and that if you have not been chosen then there is nothing that you can do to change it. The others who have not been chosen will forever burn in hell.

Homophobic ViewsTheir main website for the church has the url GodHatesFags.com and their homepage displays a large amount of anti-gay profanities. They maintain the viewpoint that those who engage in sexual activity are not only committing sin, but believe that homosexuality should be a capital crime. "The only true Nazi's in this world are fags. They want to force you by law to support their filth, and they want to shut you up by law when they hate what you say" They have been involved in anti-homosexual activity since 1991 and conduct many anti-gay protests and even attend public funerals of known homosexuals. At the many protests they organise each year, they hold signs detailing homophobic slurs and yell homophobic abuse at passersby. At the funeral of Matthew Shepard, the victim of a gay bashing in October 1998, the church attended his funeral holding signs that declared "Matthew Shepard, Entered Hell October 1998, In Defiance of God's Warning". Their website depicts a 'memorial' for him that shows him burning in hell.
